victims of crime (FAS) Counselling
Melbourne

What is FAS Counselling?

Funded Activity Sessions (FAS) counselling provides support for people who have been affected by a violent crime and have an approved application through the Victims of Crime Assistance Tribunal (VOCAT) or the Victims of Crime Financial Assistance Scheme (VOCFAS).

If you have received funding for counselling through VOCAT or VOCFAS, you can use that financial assistance to access therapeutic sessions with me at Soul Village Therapy. These sessions are designed to help you process trauma, rebuild safety, and move towards emotional and psychological recovery at a pace that feels right for you.

How I Support Victims of Crime

I work gently and compassionately with adults who have experienced:

  • physical assault

  • family violence

  • sexual assault

  • stalking, threats, or harassment

  • crimes resulting in psychological injury

  • other traumatic or violent events

My approach is grounded in trauma-informed, body-based, and attachment-focused therapy, drawing on:

  • Focusing-Oriented Therapy

  • Polyvagal and nervous system regulation

  • Somatic and mindfulness-based practices

  • Person-centred and trauma informed care

  • Attachment Therapy

  • Focusing approach to dream/nightmare exploration

Together, we work on:

  • rebuilding your sense of safety

  • reducing trauma symptoms

  • processing emotional pain and shock

  • supporting nervous system regulation

  • restoring trust and connection

  • strengthening self-worth and inner grounding

Who Is Eligible?

You may be eligible to access Victims of Crime FAS counselling if:

  • you have been the victim of a violent crime in Victoria, and

  • you already have approved counselling funding through VOCAT / VOCFAS (Victims of Crime Financial Assistance Scheme).

I provide counselling services to clients who have existing approved funding. If you are unsure about your eligibility or need assistance with an application, please contact the Victims of Crime Helpline or your case manager for guidance.

How Funding Works

If your application has been approved, the funding allocated to you will cover your counselling sessions—there are no out-of-pocket costs for you.

Sessions can be completed online and are accessible Victoria wide.
